Music has significant importance to your wedding day. The right entertainment can help guest to feel comfortable and fully enjoy the big day. It is more than just background noise to fill the air. The right music can add value to the wedding celebration!
Band
Pros:
- They are a little more involved with the crowd since their presentation is diverse. (With musicians, vocalists and all sorts of instruments)
- Every band is unique with their own qualities
- Their energy can bring people to the dance floor
- Live music and performance brings more emotion to the party
- Themed music, including covers, is a great way to start of, and satisfy different music tastes
- Even guests who just want to watch the show will have a pleasant time
Cons:
- The equipment will take up a lot of space
- The venue needs to be appropriate for the loud noise it brings along
- Break times need to be included for a band
- Live wedding bands are on average more expensive
- The band can be amazing but they will never have the same wide & varied range of music as a DJ
DJ
Pros:
- The expenses for a DJ are more affordable than a band
- You can pick any song you want and it will be played. So you can put together your own playlist
- Equipment will not take too much space, in case the venue is small
- Music keeps going throughout the entire party and it can be set before the wedding, so ceremony/reception music will go fluently
- DJ’s do not have to take a break from the music
- Your song for the first dance can be an original and not a cover/imitation
- A more experienced DJ can make sure your whole celebration creates and sustains a lasting impression
Cons:
- A DJ cannot bring the same energy and atmosphere to the crowd as a band
- A DJ with an unpleasant personality can kill the party mood. (TIP! Meet your DJ before the wedding day, to make sure you like the personality as much as the music)
- Guests can’t be pulled to the dance floor as much as a live band would drawn them
- Be aware of the autopilot type of DJ, which means everything will be played automatically and therefore he would not be entertaining the guests
