Smaller intimate sized weddings are becoming more popular than ever before, setting the new trend and the way forward. For many couples, a lesser number of guests means more quality time spent on the day with their family and loved ones and even more importantly, one another…
Planning an intimate wedding is much the same as a large-scale celebration. It starts with ideas and ticking off your ‘dream wedding list’. First things first, the ideal location needs to be found. Any rooftop, terrace, vineyard or garden can be transformed into a romantic setting using the right floral, lighting and décor.

How do we make a small intimate wedding still feel special and memorable?

Let’s focus on detail
There is no doubt that a smaller sized wedding can still make a big impact. Think of your desired theme and what is important for you to have on this special day as a couple and let your wedding planner set the right tone for your wedding day. Remember, with years of experience within the wedding industry we have witnessed and created everything imaginable, from fairy lights effects giving that romantic glow, to floral designs to achieve that ‘wow’ factor.

2. Custom Menu’s & Pairings
Make it a meal to remember! With a shorter guest list, a wedding caterer can go above and beyond to create your perfect food and wine pairing experience. With an intimate sit-down dinner, you have plenty of time to enjoy your meal and spend quality time with your loved ones. The menu can be designed and produced with more attention to detail and being a small gathering, wines can be paired per course giving the culinary luxury experience to the meal.

3. Music
You don’t need many guests to create a lively atmosphere! It is you and your guests that set the mood and the fun party element for the night. The goal is to create a meaningful, personal and memorable occasion for you and your other half – your family & friends are there to bask in your celebration.
There are many choices of music to compliment your day, and rather than going for big band setups, one can opt for a solo guitarist, violinist or harpist for the ceremony and stand up reception. Duo ensembles such as combinations of harp & violin, guitar & violin or even extending to a string quartet, all sound fabulous to create that intimate setting. However, it is important to add that no matter the size of your guest list, a DJ can still get the dance floor pumping!

4. Lose the rigid schedule and give more flow to your perfect day
Larger scale weddings often require a meticulously planned schedule to make sure all timings are met, and your day runs smoothly…. The couple during their wedding meal will be found moving from table to table to greet and thank their guests rather than using these meaningful moments to relax and ‘go with the flow’. Intimate weddings give the opportunity to allow for a more flexible and relaxed schedule whilst still enjoying every moment to the full.

5. Extending your celebration
Pre and Post wedding activities are a great option with destination weddings. As a smaller group, we can arrange pre-wedding drinks or even post-wedding excursions such as sight-seeing tours, boat trips, a vineyard tour followed by an afternoon wine tasting…. These can enhance your overall wedding experience, it doesn’t have to be one day, let the celebrations flow over a number of days!
