With over 300 sunny days per year, Malta is the ultimate wedding destination! Thanks to our moderate temperature throughout the year and many hours of sunshine from April through to October and beyond, Malta is an island that attracts a lot of couples from all over the world wanting to get married and spend their honeymoon on this gem of an island. With a history dating back to 3,500 BC Malta offers not only stunning venue options for weddings but also many attractions and activities for the guests to enjoy during their stay on the island.
If you have a precise date in mind or you haven’t decided yet which month to pick, below is a quick look through the four seasons and what Malta has to offer for your perfect island Mediterranean wedding throughout the year.
Spring has sprung!
Spring is the perfect season in Malta, when the weather reaches the perfect balance between the chilly winter and the hot summer. There are only a few rainy days so outdoor weddings are very popular in the Springtime. However, we always make sure that a suitable back up is in place since one of the few things we have no control over is the weather 🙂
Spring is always the season of renewal, with flowers in bloom, very colourful and picturesque landscapes and fresh air that lightens all spirits.
Floral choices can be colourful so you can play around with some lovely colour combinations.
The menu can be adapted to include the lovely spring fruits which will be available at this time of year, such as fresh strawberries which we always have plenty of, all locally grown and delicious.
You should choose an attire with lightweight fabric. Sleeveless dresses are always a good option in spring while remaining practical and beautiful. The evening breeze can bring with it a slight chill, so a lovely shawl does the trick once the sun sets.
As for the men, black suits are always a safe bet but are not the only option, especially during Springtime, light greys or navy blues will fit perfectly the seasonal spirit.
Always remember that the most important thing is that you feel comfortable so make sure to adapt your attire accordingly.
Summer of love
Summer in Malta can be hot. Some clients love it as they crave the summer sun and heat others prefer to avoid the end of July and August since the weather can be on the high side.
However, if you want an outdoor guaranteed wedding these months are the ones to go for. Being an island, in the evening we always enjoy a lovely breeze from the sea surrounding the shores. So, what we recommend is go for July and August but do not start your wedding before 5pm so that the weather starts cooling down by that time and you can then enjoy the pleasant evening.
When picking your choice of hair style for a summer wedding in Malta, try and choose one with an up-style as this helps the bride feel cooler. Make-up ideally is kept on the light side and done professionally since the local qualified make-up artists would have the right products to make the look last long and right through the wedding.
A beautiful summer night is priceless for some great dancing and partying through the night. With the possibility of having a private firework display during these months, creates the perfect touch to you Mediterranean wedding.
Getting married in autumn
Our Autumn in Malta is mild and pleasant. This makes it a very popular time to get married. The weather is still warm and swimming in the sea is still guaranteed and yet the days are more pleasant and less hot.
Following our busy tourist peak period in Summer, Autumn brings with it less influx of tourism and cheaper hotel rates so this could be a point to keep in mind when looking into accommodation budgeting as picking the right season for your wedding in Malta could save you and your guests hundreds in lodging expenses.
Furthermore, the various colour hews available in Autumn especially with floral and landscapes around the island sets the inspiration for original wedding and decoration and photo opportunities which are truly unique.
Warm winter
Our winters offer temperatures around 15 to 20 degrees C so on the whole, the winter season in Malta is still warm enough to enjoy your wedding in an outdoor venue during the day. However, we do have those cold winter days when a lovely cosy indoor venue would always be a better option.
Always have a backup in place for a winter wedding just in case the day brings with it some rainy showers. However, do not despair as it is rare that the sun does not pop out during the day any time of year including our winter months.
Malta does offer some lovely indoor venues which are unique, historic and very private which lend to a cosy and unique indoor set up very apt for the Winter wedding spirit. Every venue still offers the outdoor terraces that are ideal for the civil ceremony and the stand-up reception enjoyed outdoors whilst moving indoors for the dinner and partying.
Picking the right time of year for your wedding is not an easy task. However, in Malta we can accommodate weddings all year round so feel free to contact us if you want more information for your all Season round wedding in Malta!
