In our April blog, we concentrated on your invitations and ‘Save the Date’ cards and now it is time to acknowledge the other essentials for your perfect wedding.
As with all details for your wedding, you can be as extravagant as you like or simply keep it classic. The main thing to always remember is to keep your style and personality as a couple. This ensures your dream day remains personalised, making it even more memorable for you and your loved ones celebrating your wedding day alongside you.
As always, we are here to point you in the right direction! We have listed some items we believe are essential for your wedding, naturally keeping with your wedding theme and décor.
Table Plan
A table plan is an essential element of your wedding. It allows your guests to easily find their seat in a quick and timely manner. This keeps the flow of the wedding going without delaying the much-awaited announcement introducing the newlywed couple.
The recipe for the perfect table plan, we recommend is one that is kept simple yet elegant and legible, it keeps with your wedding’s visual aesthetic and is situated in the right spot, usually located at the entrance to the area in which you are holding your wedding celebratory meal and reception. Naturally, it must show some essential information such as the name of the guests, the name or the number of the table in which they have been assigned and a welcome message addressed to the guests.
Your plan could be printed on thick card paper, plexiglass or even a mirror, either resting regally on an easel or fixed to a ladder. If you want the ultimate look, you may want to hang your table chart so that it floats, secured delicately on suspendion wires… let your style and creativity talk!
Guest Book
Your guest book is a detail which should feel very special, personal and creative as it will act as a beautiful reminder for years to come. This wedding essential will be placed on a designated table for all of your loved ones to write a message and act as a memento of love and fun shared.
There are many different ideas for you guest book, you can design your own with images taken over the years or by a professional photographer or simply buy a special book to be kept as a keepsake. If you are looking for a different type of guest book, then there are many options; from a polaroid camera for guests to take a photo and leave a message on, to an idea becoming more popular, that of wooden hearts being written on and dropped into a frame which creates a picture to be hung when you get home and that can be seen and read each day.
Signage
Some couples like to use signs to direct their guests to different areas of their wedding, they are useful as they naturally provide direction but also personalise an area and helps create anticipation and excitement.
Thank You Cards
After spending your wedding day surrounded by your loved ones, you just want to thank them for making this special day even more special and memorable. This is what thank you cards are all about and they are the perfect way to show your gratitude for their presence and support.
A few tips to offer the best thank you cards your guests will ever receive:
- It is always best is send handwritten thank you cards, this simple touch will make the gesture so much more special and meaningful.
- Personalise your card to whom you are writing to, mention any gifts you received from that person or family. If you received a monetary gift, perhaps avoid mentioning the amount, rather mention how it will help with your upcoming plans, whatever they may be.
- Remember to send the thank you card within a month, 2 at most and be sure to sign off using your married name, something that brings a smile to your face and theirs. Knowing the postal addresses of your guests written in advance will make this easier for you if you hadn’t posted the initial invitations and relied on gatherings or other family members to pass them on.
- It is always nice to send a thank you card to your vendor and any suppliers you used, this is a nice touch and always appreciated.
Wedding Favours
Your wedding favours tend to be a small token of your appreciation to your friends and family for their sharing in your special day. In line with Maltese traditioan, you may select a small bag or box containing 5 sugared almonds representing the five blessings of Health, Wealth, Happiness, Long Life and Fertility although anything goes these days, remember, it’s your day, you get to choose!
If children will be present at your wedding, it is a great idea to personalise their gift, something which they can enjoy and entertain themselves. This works two-fold, it keeps them happy while providing their parents with some reprieve to enjoy the evening.
With so many ideas on the internet, it is easy to find creative ideas for each aspect of your wedding, but as always, we are happy to help you further as your planners on the island of Malta. In fact, all your little extra touches will be set up for you on the day as per your requests, one less thing to organise allowing more time to spent doing the things you want to do.
